Kyk Luna Khan figured that Costea's paintings carriy a myth of the strangest kind, chosing the premonitory 13th myth. Costea then started out defining the 12 precendent ones and this led to an amazing exhibition of Witches, Cosmonauts, mermaids and the Diutch painter who kept waiting for his money. Moving the viewer into a realm of the fanstastic !

Using photography as a medium of contemplation, of moments lived. These intimate moments on the invisible frontier between reality and our fragile dreams. The photographer believes that the a man and a woman sees life differently, translates these moments differently, so it is through his photography that he tries to capture the brief windows of joy, desire and life before they disappear into oblivion.

APRIL 19 - 26, 2008, KOLKATA
The First Retrospective of a body thirty years of work by kolkata based artist unveils on April 19th. In this artit's paintings there is a sense of story-telling, about human nature, the rational and the irrational side, the variety of mental state the individual experiences. Layers of apparently peaceful atmospheric scenes camouflage the demonic and the powerful. Deceptive in their simplicity one discovers that there is a fascinating drama just about to spill out of the canvas, drawing the viewer into the Act

THE NATURE SERIES, selected works of ANITA MITRA 25thOct-22nd Nov 2007. Nouvelle Boutique Marcia de Carvalho, Paris. This Indian artist produces simple narratives, in naive forms stitched directly into multiple layers of recycled cotton. This technique was used mainly to make a soft quilt of which and rare exquisite pieces of which can still be found only at the Victoria & Albert Musuem and Asustosh Museum. Unlike tantric forms the geometry and harmony of these images are drawn from a need to communicate domestic bliss, the mental peace that accompanies a slow stitching motion, the familier texture of used cloth. Nature, Blossoms and Love frequently form the core message. Deceptively simple the designs have balance and geomtery inspite of free hand stitching.
Boutique Marcia de Carvalho, 3 rue roi de Sicile, 75003 Paris, 11am-7pm daily ex Sun.

WRITTEN IMAGE , recent paintings of Hiran Mitra, Gallery Yapanchitra, 3rd-31st Oct, Kolkata. The artist explores the language of Art as a “manuscript of a civilisation”, revives the contemporary polemic whose participants have been Levi-Strauss, Satyajit Ray, Kenneth Clark, Homi Bhabha in different media and of course numerous artists world wide. There is no more of layered dream traces of personal memory , but energetic strokes and universal symbolism. This show will be also witness an important installation work of the Artist. He explores the relation of Art and Civilisations. The north-south divide in popular Art history is questioned through two reversed ladders and numerous gigantic newsprint scrolls covered in the artist's unique calligraphy.
